Infrastructure – Bucket Wheel Assembly
AAW successfully managed the complex delivery of a Bucket Wheel assembly to Loy Yang Power Station. The project began with the importation of three OOG flatracks from Slovenia, combined with locally sourced materials delivered to a Melbourne manufacturer for assembly. The completed Bucket Wheel measured 11.3m in diameter and 3.8m in height, requiring specialised handling throughout the process.
During manufacturing, AAW provided two cranes for a dual lift to rotate the Bucket Wheel, and later repositioned them to weigh and lift the unit onto a specialised trailer for transport. The final delivery, covering 35km to site, demanded careful management of transport permits, rail crossings, and stakeholder coordination. With an extreme width exceeding three traffic lanes, AAW supervised every stage to ensure safety and compliance.
This project highlights AAW’s ability to deliver highly engineered, oversized cargo with precision and professionalism, overcoming logistical and technical challenges to meet client expectations.
